Through the press release, the studio explained that starting next Friday on October 9, the movie will be offered at all hours, including the previous midnight only venues. The expansion was credited to the overwhelming demand from hundreds of thousands of fans from across the country. Of it, Paramount Pictures Vice Chairman Rob Moore said, "The fans have spoken, and we are listening."
Paramount also mentioned in the press release how much "Paranormal" has pulled in so far. From the sold out midnight screenings from Thursday, October 1 thru Saturday, October 3 in 33 cities across the country, the movie earned a per screen of $16,000 for a total estimated gross of $535,000.
"Paranormal Activity" is presented entirely as home video footage. It follows a young, middle class couple after they move into a new house. What seems like a typical suburban 'starter' tract house turns to be a nightmare for the pair when they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night.
